Who becomes the greatest victim in any military onslaught? Do you have any idea? It’s the civilian population who is found at the end of the day as contrite or remorseful and also dejected. But this is not all. The entire city comprising numerous buildings also becomes perished along with its inhabitants. Well, this is nothing new and is evident since the innocent city and its populace is the first prey (being the soft targets). Even in the ancient days the marauders used to wreak havoc on the city and burn it after the plunder. We need not go into the details but there are numerous specimens of it in the history. From the ancient Greece to India we can find numerous examples of this devastation.
However the most prominent, in this regard, are the World War II and War on Vietnam. While in the former war the devastations of the Nazi Germany knew no bounds and through bombardment used to devastate the city and marvelous buildings of London almost daily, the US war planes crushed cities along with buildings in the second case. The same saga continues even today since most wars are prone to extend to the civilian areas.
What we witnessed in the latest blitz of Israeli army air forces over the Gaza Strip is the same story. The Israeli army air forces were predetermined to devastate different targets belong to Islamic Hamas movement and its government in the Gaza Strip no matter whether it would smash up the city life. Well, it did the same and left 271 people killed and hundreds injured. It has been found that the airstrike was carried out on the building of Hamas cabinet and that is most dreadful.
A number of buildings have been completely smashed, according to the latest information, and nothing can be said of many others. The only reason is that there is complete anarchy and disorder and the Hamas government announced a three-day grief and mourning.
