Carlson GMAC’s ruination prognosticates worst tragedies

What can happen to the neighborhood if a large tree crumples on account of a strong gale? The entire locality or neck of the woods gets shaken. Do you consider this as an isolated incident that can happen only in the physical environment? In no way! The same reaction takes place in any sphere and also in the business environment. We are witnessing the same and crude reality in Marblehead, which is a town in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. Carlson GMAC Real Estate, the prime and one of the longest real estate companies in Marblehead has decided to close its operations once and for all. This landmark decision in the midst of a tottering economy and unprecedented decline in sales definitely foretells the worst.

The news has already spread like a wild fire in the market and has come before many as the best indication of increasing disasters. According to the latest information, the offices of the company that are situated in Beverly, Gloucester, Natick and Newburyport will also cease to operate. Let’s forget about the market. What will be the effect of this abrupt decision on the employees of the company? On the word of the New England-based company’s official statement pertaining to the closures, about two dozen employees will be affected in conjunction with almost 200 sales associates.

What has led to this hasty decision? This is the only question that is roaming in the pertinent industry. Well, according to the prudence of observers, the bad management of the company is only responsible for the downfall and it has to take the blame therefore. Nevertheless the best assessment of this gruesome reality has come from Sean Gildea. He is the son of the company’s founder Richard Carlson and is busy in working for William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage, and Insurance Co., the archrival of Carlson GMAC for long. In his words, real estate is an out and out local business and the desire to put into practice a large business model over such a unique industry is an imprudent job.

Whatever it is, the downfall of Carlson GMAC has not only saddened the industry but also terrified. Is this the tip of an iceberg?
