New City Hall in City of Troy, New York is on the cards

It is becoming evident that the time to get into the New City Hall by transforming a former telecommunications building in the City of Troy, New York is drawing near. However, none is there to tell you the exact time. The only reason is none knows it after all and some works are still to be done. It has been learnt that altogether six bids have been submitted to the city for modernizing the former Verizon building on Sixth Avenue. The aim is to accommodate various offices of city government there since the time of its departure from its existing Monument Square location is in the offing.

It should be mentioned that Mayor Harry Tutunjian made a great effort to move city government to the location in 2007. However, on account of a stiff opposition from the rivals and cropping up of controversy the effort met an abrupt end. Well, now concentrate on the bids. The companies to submit the bids include Finelli Construction, Inc., HCP Architects, BCI Construction Inc., Bast Hatfield Inc., Al Mugrace, and VMJR Companies. But the specific details are to be known yet.

Speaking on this the city spokesman Jeff Buell stated, “We’ve got to look at the bids and then we’re going to have to go to the City Council and find a way to pay for the refit for the building.” “Once we get approval and whatever contractor we choose can get working, we should be able to move in fairly soon after that.”

The city is, at present, leasing the Verizon building for $307,728 per year from Judge Development Corporation. It has been found that the initial lease is for three years. In addition there is also the availability of two-year options but it depends on the decision of the city.

Nonetheless, it is a reality that the existing City Hall building will be demolished soon after the abandonment. It is likely that there will be the construction of an underground parking facility with a park atop of it.
