New York City set to retrieve foreclosed homes

How do we look at the New York City? It is not only the most populous city in the United States but is also a highly prominent global city, exerting a powerful influence over worldwide commerce, finance, culture, and entertainment. What’s more the city of New York, in several respects and times, has been the trendsetter in the global arena. It seems that, even in this context, New York is going to set an ideal for the others to follow. What is the activity of the city therefore?

It has come to the knowledge that the city of New York is going to expend $24 million in federal financing for the sake of rehabilitating and also reselling 115 foreclosed homes. What is the objective of this mammoth project? Well, as has been learnt, the aim of this bizarre endeavor is to prevent vacant foreclosed properties from becoming blight on neighborhoods. It must be remembered that the official declaration, in this regard, has been provided by none other than Michael R. Bloomberg, the Hon’ble Mayor of the same city.

The destined money will be used, as has been found, to acquire control of foreclosed properties owned by lenders that have failed to be sold at auction. It must be mentioned that some steps, in this regard, have already been adopted. The concerned authority of New York has already managed the acquisition of the first four empty homes. While two of them are on Staten Island, each of the other two is in Bronx and Queens respectively. When will the desired renovations commence? They are scheduled to begin by the near-term spring.

Speaking on this at the press conference, Mayor Bloomberg stated, “We’ve worked hard over the past seven years to build strong, safe neighborhoods, and we can’t — and we won’t — let the current mortgage crisis destabilize our communities and threaten our quality of life.”

This endeavor of New York, according to observers, will set a new instance and surely embolden the spirit of the market, especially when it is in the intensive care unit and in quest of benignancy.
