Truman Courthouse to exist emphatically

Truman Courthouse in the middle of the Independence Square in Kansas City, Missouri is truly a historical building and relates to Harry S. Truman’s political career to the largest extent. It has been agreed by the historians unanimously that this career was indeed the brightest and most distinguished of the 20th Century.

However, the condition of the same Truman Courthouse has been declining for years and that has created a lot of furor in the county life. But thanks to the perseverance or sustained effort of Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders who declared the condition of the mammoth historical building as a “public emergency” a ray of hope is found in the horizon.

What is the significance of the tag “public emergency”? It has been found that it was done intentionally to enable the county to cover costs of preservation. Well, the courthouse is in the second phase of a three-phase renovation project with the aim of saving the badly worn foundation of the building from further declension or deterioration. The approximate cost of the phase would be around $800,000 and the county has reserved $270,000. The additional amount of the money of more than $500,000 will be managed from the state-mandated contingency fund of the county. It has also been learnt that the county will look for recompense from the state and federal governments along with private funds.

Speaking on this Mike Sanders stated emphatically, “Basically, we want to go back to the way the courthouse was originally” “Those walls have to come down.” He referred to the walls that have “captured every bit of rainfall that has dropped over the last 35 years, like the walls of a bathtub,” as indicated by engineers.

He also said, “If we wait longer, we risk losing irreplaceable features of this building that simply can’t be replaced.” “If we don’t act, we are risking losing the building.”
