It has come to the knowledge that Laney Real Estate Co. has bought the North Carolina division of Prudential Burroughs & Chapin Realty Inc. What can be the major significance of this approach? Well, apart from others this has led to the opening of five new offices for Wilmington-based Laney and this also leads to the footing in southern and western Brunswick County for the company. Laney Real Estate Co. happens to be a family owned business since 1978 and it serves the Wilmington and Southeastern North Carolina area.
The company being a full service real estate company does offer residential and commercial sales, resort and long term property management and rentals. Besides the Laney School of Real Estate which has been providing pre-licensing and Brokers courses since 1980, does proffer both Daytime and Evening classes.
However there has been a major development. It has been found that Laney terminates an association with the list of independent residential agencies in Wilmington for joining the Prudential national franchise as part of the acquisition deal. On the other hand Laney President George Laney affirmed categorically that Laney will take hold of Burroughs’ business in Ocean Isle Beach, Southport, Wilmington, Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach and the amalgamation will result in consolidation of overlapping offices.
In Wilmington both of Laney Real Estate Co. and Prudential Burroughs & Chapin Realty Inc. have their respective offices and from now there will be the presence of one (representing the combination of two). But this is not all. According to company officials, Laney and Burroughs will overlap offices in Carolina Beach and Wrightsville Beach also, which will be combined into one in each town.
It is being hoped that the addition of locations in Ocean Isle Beach and Southport will make Prudential Laney stretch from the South Carolina border to Topsail Beach. This will lead Prudential Laney to grab the No. 3 position in market share in the collective multiple listing services of Wilmington, Brunswick County and Topsail. It is also expected that the combined form will be No. 4 in the market of the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors by itself.
