It has often been found in history that one historic or epoch-making event gives rise to a number of consequences. Take for instance the fall of Soviet Union in the early 90s. Its downfall not only sounded the death knell of Communism but also brought to the fore the grave violations of human rights that had happened under the aegis of the erstwhile Soviet leaders. All these events led to the destruction of Karl Marx’s philosophy’s status and it seems that it can never restore its position. In the same manner, it seems, the ongoing downturn has made many people or votaries of crony capitalism shun it for eternity and they are returning to the original fold of religions.
This appears as the most dominant reason to many who were amazed at the decision of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Scottsdale to set up a new Parish Life Center. There is no doubt in it that more than a few churches all over the world are grieving over declining numbers of parishioners. But the situation in case of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Scottsdale is reverse. The number of parishioners is increasing and this has made the church authority jubilant. It has been learnt that the church will celebrate a Mass and groundbreaking at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for its new Parish Life Center.
What’s more, as a mark of celebration the Most Rev. Thomas J. Olmsted, bishop of Phoenix, will become part of Monsignor Thomas Hever, the parish’s pastor, at the groundbreaking in front of the Rhoady Lee Building. According to the members of church, such a gallant building was widely waited and it is expected, therefore, that the 36,900-square-foot multipurpose building will become the heart of the parish and school community.
In the building there will be the awesome presence of an indoor gym which will be used for students’ physical-education activities and competitive athletics. It is learnt that the gym will also be used for large parish and community functions. The other key aspects include office space for parish staff and priests and meeting space for parish ministries, clubs and community groups.
