It is true that the Frederick County Public Schools or the public school system that runs for the residents of Frederick County, Maryland can have a sigh of relief due to the initiation of the project of central office building (even in this period) but it seems that its woes are not over yet. There is the need of a good fund still and this has made concerned officials contrive to sell existing administrative buildings. Is the project feasible? According to a considerable section of officials it is and they hope to sell four buildings.
These four buildings include the main office at 115 E. Church St., in Frederick, two properties on Hayward Road in Frederick, and a warehouse in Middletown. What is their immediate plan with this money? Well, they are desirous to use the money to catch up on some of the cost of a new central office building in downtown Frederick. It is to be noted that the school system intends to check out of the buildings in 2010, when it construction is complete on the new office building.
It has also been learnt that the central office project will consolidate school administrators from five locations into a $16.7 million building at the corner of South and East streets.
In the initial days of the project there were bright conjectures and there was an estimation that there could be the profit of up to $8.6 million from the sale of the four buildings. However, the spate of downturn and the subsequent downfall of the real estate market have exerted a great blow and now it seems only a portion of the original amount (that was speculated) may be available.
Nevertheless, it seems that school system officials are potent enough to withstand any such debacle and for that reason are gearing up to the existing reality. This becomes evident from their tenacity to study new possibilities and get a realistic idea of options. It has been learnt that the next meeting of the Board of Education will be regarding how to market and sell these properties.
