Make your home an energy efficient building

How can you help the national economy in these days of hardships? Have you ever thought of that? Remember that the whole of United States of America is staggering owing to the downturn and its dreadful effects. All you have to do at this hour is to save the country in any way. Why don’t you be energy efficient and save the surplus energy of your building? This can be in the form of using efficient light bulbs, opening the windows when it is warm instead of running the air conditioner and several other ways.

Are you ashamed and thinking of the neighbors’ reactions? Let me tell you that thousands of people are doing the same including Mayor Michael Bloomberg of the New York City. Michael Rubens Bloomberg is an American businessman and philanthropist, and the current Mayor of New York City. He was listed as the eighth-richest American, with a net worth of US$20 Billion, in the Forbes 400 on Sept. 17, 2008, making him the richest resident of New York City, ahead of David H. Koch. He is the founder and 88% owner of Bloomberg L.P., a financial software services company.

It has been learnt that he is an ardent supporter of wind-powered city buildings and a green Empire State Building but he also saves energy at his private homes in every possible way. In a recently held interview the Mayor made it clear that he also turns off lights that aren’t being used and likes to open the windows when it is warm instead of running the air conditioner. He said very clearly, “I’m sure we use a lot of energy, but we’re trying to make it as little as possible.”

The Mayor was asked various questions and especially of his personal power consumption at a news conference where he was unveiling the first working building-mounted turbines in New York City.

If the mayor can do this, why can’t you? Have a second thought yet again.
