New Albany City is set to accomplish amphitheatre project

It has come to the knowledge that the New Albany City is quite serious of its prestigious amphitheatre project but is having problems with regard to funding. What can be done therefore? Well, the city Mayor Doug England, as per the latest information, has found out a way and will ask the New Albany City Council to set aside $250,000.

New Albany is the city in Floyd County, Indiana, United States, situated along the Ohio River opposite Louisville, Kentucky. The city is the county seat of Floyd County and is bounded by I-265 to the north and the Ohio River to the south, and is considered part of the Louisville, Kentucky Metropolitan Statistical Area.

What shall be the basis of the request? As indicated by sources, it will be to make the best use of riverboat funds, the money donated from Horseshoe Southern Indiana Casino and Hotel and this will definitely exempt the use of tax dollars. It is to be noted that the Mayor raised money with the sole intention of combining with an insurance check that covered storm damage to the original amphitheatre during last September’s windstorm. In the amount there was also the presence of $200,000 from the Clark-Floyd Counties Convention and Tourism Bureau.

It must be stated that the total amount was of $471,000. Nonetheless, the lowest construction bid for the new structure came in almost $100,000 higher than the engineer’s estimate. It was only in the last month when MAC Construction and Excavating of New Albany was awarded the contract. They submitted the lowest of nine bids at $694,970.

Speaking on this Doug England said, “It will change our whole riverfront.” “The council and I] are working on this amphitheatre together, and I know they will make sure it happens.”

As stated by government departments, there is going to be the formation of new committees and council members will be assigned to several new committees for supervision.
