If you ever make a list of sincere and amiable persons, you have to include the Petersen couple that includes Chris Petersen and his wife Barbara. What makes them so special? Well, Chris Petersen is the football head coach of Boise State University and he along with his wife will make a $150,000 donation to the fund for a new College of Business and Economics building at Boise State. This has been announced by the school.
What encourages the Petersen couple to do so? “We are strong supporters of Boise State University and its leadership,” Chris Petersen said. “This university is on the rise and the business building will be a signature facility that will serve the entire community through its programs, faculty and students.”
Boise State University happens to be a research, public university located near downtown Boise, the capital city of the U.S. state of Idaho. The university is known for proffering 201 degrees in 190 fields of study - from doctoral programs to technical certificates. With 19,540 students, a new Idaho state enrollment record, Boise State University currently has the highest enrollment of any institution of higher learning in the state of Idaho.
It has been learnt that Boise State wants to construct a College of Business and Economics at the corner of Capitol Boulevard and University Drive. The Micron Technology Foundation contributed $12.5 million to the building in 2007. Boise State must come up with a $5 million match. The school has raised about $2 million, according to the business college’s website.
In addition, the building is visualized as a gateway to the university and is one of nearly 25 new buildings the school would like to complete as part of its transformation to a regional research university. It is to be noted that Petersen, who is entering his fourth season as the Broncos’ head coach, is the highest-paid state employee, though the bulk of his salary comes from other sources.
