When will Burj Dubai come to life? This has been the question of the building, property and real estate industries worldwide. There was no perfect answer even from the Emaar Properties, renowned Middle Eastern concern involved in building the world’s tallest skyscraper. However, now it seems that the project will end before long since the company promised to put the last touches on the tower by year’s end. Nevertheless, the exact date remains uncertain yet.
What made the concern speak out all of a sudden? The same question is perplexing many cutting across real estate kingpins of various countries, although experts term the annunciation timely. As per them, Emaar Properties has hardly any other way since both the business concern along with its hometown, Dubai are reeling from a severe property slump exacerbated by the global recession and the colossal structure would provide both the much needed encouragement.
Emaar Properties said in a brief e-mailed statement that the shiny metal and glass Burj Dubai “is scheduled to open this year.” “More details on the official launch will be provided in due course,” the company said in response to questions. It did not make officials available for comment.
Let’s check out its earlier statements. Emaar Properties, in the past, said more than 2,600-foot (800-meter) building, whose name in Arabic means “Dubai Tower,” would open in September. That deadline now appears open to question, seeing that parts of its facade still appear incomplete. Do you want to delve into the same? Till now, confusion persists regarding the final height of the project and if truth be told, little is known regarding the amount of work still needed to outfit the building’s approximately 160 floors.
It should also be noted that the developer last week shut an office overseeing $20 billion worth of real estate projects in Algeria, citing “a lack of progress which is beyond the company’s control.”
What can we conclude therefore? Though the Middle Eastern business concern has vowed, several aspects are fishy and this makes pertinent people and many across the world skeptical.
