Green building generates large-scale profits too

First it was the groups of esteemed builders and real state developers and now even the economic pundits do concur not only the concept of green building can be a great maneuver to contend with the brunt of downturn but it can generate large-scale profits also. For all these reasons, in the realm of United States, green is becoming a term synonymous with environment-conscious lifestyle increasingly. The concept of green building has already become a new trend in US.

Green building or a sustainable building happens to be an outcome of a design philosophy that concentrates on improving the efficiency of resource use — energy, water, and materials — while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment during the building’s lifecycle, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal. Take for instance the development circles and there the notion of green has gone from a boutique idea to a mandatory part of architecture and construction already.

Speaking on this Craig Willcut, President of United Construction, said, “It’s not just about energy savings.” “It’s about providing a healthy environment for employees, as well as being socially responsible for our part of the environment.”

“It’s a popular thing with the younger generation,” said Christopher Larson, spokesman for the Sustainable Development Committee of the Las Vegas chapter of NAIOP, a commercial real estate trade group. “They want to work for a company that is thinking sustainable because it’s cool and the right thing to do.”

On the other hand, Rick Van Diepen, Chairman of the Committee on the Environment for the Las Vegas chapter of the American Institute of Architects, says, “Corporate responsibility is becoming unavoidable.” “Employee productivity is being improved by 1 percent to 2 percent, conservatively, by working in a green building. That is a huge bottom-line savings.”

There is no doubt in this idea, as indicated by scores of studies hitherto and many companies, as the costs for building green are plummeting, are focusing on constructing such buildings than ever before.
