It has come to the knowledge that The Venetian Macao, highly acclaimed five-star property of the Las Vegas Sands Corp located in Macao, China, is close to inaugurate its integrated sales offices in India. Reason? The group has gone through painstaking studies regarding the potential of the Indian market and has been fascinated by its escalation. The company will set up offices in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore by end of 2009.
“Since 2008, the hotel has seen a significant rise in Indian visitors. While earlier, India ranked 12th among our major source markets; over the past six months, it has risen to maintain the fifth position. Seeing the response from India, we have decided to introduce dedicated efforts to target the market,” informed Mark Russell, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Venetian Macao Ltd. The hotel hosted the IIFA Awards 2009 in July this year, which helped increase its visibility in the Indian market. The property has seen a 60 per cent growth in the number of visitors from India since the event, Russell added.
More to the point, targeting the MICE segment, which contributes to about 40 per cent of the Indian arrivals, the company is also promoting its property as a lucrative wedding destination in the Indian market. “We recently hosted two Indian weddings in our property. Besides, the property can cater to the family and individual gaming and entertainment of the guests, who will visit the wedding function,” informed Gene Capuano, Executive Director of Conference Management – Conventions & Exhibitions, The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.
In order to promote the same in the best manner, the hotel, at the moment, is conducting a three city tour in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore with media events on top of meeting the travel agents and wedding specialists in the country. In 2010, the hotel plans to conduct familiarization trips for event managers, wedding specialists and travel and tour operators in India.
The hotel launched the Malo Clinic Spa in August 2009 and will start operations of the entire facility by end of 2009.
