Can Google Real Estate take over UK?

Google, internet search giant, needs no new mentions and now it is set to alter the online property search market in the UK forever, if the experts can be depended on. The globally acclaimed American public corporation has brought to the forefront its own search tool to be in competition with high-cost big hitters like heavyweight Rightmove.

The Google property search has been named as Google Real Estate and on the word of company officials, it’s first and foremost aim will be to drive consumers directly to the websites of agents, encouraging the traffic and business that their online offering receives. Can this lead to any success? Well, Goggle is confident and as per its studies, in the region of 80 per cent of Britons make use of the Internet as their primary research tool in the home buying process. Google’s estimates put this at up to 20 million searches per month.

What is its rate of success in other countries then? Scores of reports state ever since the service launched in USA, Australia and New Zealand, Google Real Estate sparked off momentous growth in online property searches. As stated by the estimation of Google Australia, 87 per cent of Australians bring the Internet into play in the home buying process, while many smaller estate agents take advantage of Google’s free-to-list policy.

What is more, Google tool can offer a number of visual tools in one place and these include Google maps showing local amenities, Google street view allowing a virtual drive past. Google facts and figures, in addition, proffers background on schools, public transport, churches and crime figures and the ability to search for historic sales prices.

Commenting on this Robin King, Movewithus Director, said: “Google is great news for agents as it could help them to win more instructions online. What’s more, the smallest agent can compete on an equal footing. Whilst experience has shown in other markets that smaller agents have been slow to adapt their technology, the introduction of Google will give them the ability to improve their online offering, helping them to increase market share and earn additional business.”
